This project seeks to combine the activation of underutilized open space through flexible design and implementation of small-scale stormwater management methods. The design flexibility comes from the use of modular planted trays and seats that fit into the standard 2’x2’ paver space, allowing the site furnishings to be rearranged as necessary or transferred to other Gund patio levels. The project mitigates stormwater runoff and flooding using plantings in the modular trays to absorb a portion of the stormwater. Reuse of commonly used surplus materias such as wood pallets was a priority.  The modular seats were produced with 30% reclaimed wood pallets.
